The fourth Joe Pitt vampire/detective novel from Charlie Huston has been released. This time around, Joe is living in exile in the Bronx, but he gets sucked (heh) back into Manhattan. He gets hired to find where all the blood in New York comes from.

That’s all I can say.Every Last Drop sets up a show down for the next and last book in the series. The book doesn’t deviate from its course other than to peek in on some recurring characters. The solution to the mystery doesn’t take much thinking to figure out, and it feels perfunctory.

On the other hand, Charlie Huston has a good ear for dialogue, and he knows that readers will see his ending coming. He’s good enough to reveal it in flashes, and he’s good enough to keep the book readable.

To the Last Drop kept me entertained through a bad trip to the doctor’s office, and for that, I mildly recommend it.
